"Verse Tapas" Hosted by Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay

Date: 21 May 2017 Sunday / Time: 6pm to 7pm / Venue: Annexe Studio Level 1 / Free entry for public

Youth Poet Ambassador (YPA) Pooja Nansi is curating and performing in “Verse Tapas,” a Spoken Word showcase featuring Cyril Wong, Shivram Gopinath, Stephanie Dogfoot and William Beale. Pooja and the other  poets will discuss what whets their appetite, what we consume, and what we are all hungry for. This isn't poetry as you know it.

“I am happy to be able to initiate several projects with different stakeholders to showcase local poetry to a wider audience,” says Pooja. “I am very excited that more programmes are being put together throughout my 24-month stint as the YPA.”

“Verse Tapas” is initiated by The Esplanade and part of the YPA programme. The YPA programme is an initiative of National Arts Council and managed by Poetry Festival (Singapore). The programme is free for the public.

It is a testament to the growth of homegrown poetry, especially spoken word, that the Esplanade has selected “Verse Tapas” as a marquee event at its Open House. The Esplanade is hosting a myriad of activities, concerts and  stage productions on May 21. The Esplanade plans to build a new S$30 million waterfront theater that is slated to open in 2021.

The Esplanade Annexe Studio is a new and informal performance as well as rehearsal space that has seen numerous Singaporean and international acts perform. The massive open house will be anchored by a couple of F&B outlets from Esplanade Mall and several Singapore artists for a weekend of food trails, workshops, music performances and more.

Hosted by Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay. More details on Facebook event page.
