

NATIONAL POETRY RECITATION COMPETITION 2025
Poetry Festival Singapore (PFS) presents the second edition of the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in 2025.
Celebrating poetry as an oral tradition, this competition aims to promote the appreciation of poetry in the classroom and the community by encouraging students and the public in Singapore to learn poems by heart and recite them out loud.
Finalists will perform their selected poems in person during the finals on 26 and 27 July 2025 at the National Library. Registration is free of charge. Just memorise a poem or two, submit your video-recording, and stand the chance to win generous prizes!
Objectives
The objectives of the competition are as follows:

To cultivate greater interest in poetry in English from Singapore and the rest of the world through recitation and performance

To develop greater awareness of poetry as an oral tradition, featuring rich and diverse varieties of English, in ways that make poems even more engaging and accessible

Categories: Primary (Primary 1 to 6), Secondary (Secondary 1-5) and Open (Post-Secondary or older)
Length of video: Up to 5 minutes per video
